Since the famous band Van Halen started off the trend of weird and wacky requests by demanding for M&M’s with the brown ones removed, the paparazzi has been keeping a close track of all other demands by various stars. While some might say it’s just deplorable how people with money think they can get anyone to do anything for them, there are others who think that creativity does deserve some leeway and these stars that have to deal with stress and living up to their fan’s expectation are entitled to some eccentricity. Her usual demands as revealed by a tour rider, include 24 bottles of Dasani water bottles 12 at room temperature and 12 on ice. Her flower arrangements are standard, but she insists on getting candles that smell like baked goods!

Apart from just backstage demands, she has also gained a reputation for obscure and weird demands while outside, like her recent insistence on having her own private dance floor at her favourite club, i.e. Mayfair’s mahiki nightclub. Her entourage and helpers have often complained of her attitude and diva-like demands to get strange items like the ‘right’ ice bucket and specific food items at any time. The concert venue must have dry cleaner waiting, and his dressing room demands include a lush green cover with strangely, 19 leafy 6- feet plants and four leafy 4 -feet plants, and an added condition that no plant should possess a bark. The other room requirements include only halogen lamps, three flower arrangements and twenty towels. As for the furniture, he demands it be wooden, and not glass or lacquer. He insists on a purely vegetarian banquet served on an 8 feet table covered with a white tablecloth.

The other demands included a separate make up area, TV, DVD and stereo and all that trouble just for a charity event where she stayed for a little over an hour! At the world music awards, she demanded that the speed boat to transport her to Monte Carlo be fitted with custom fitted love seat, faux leather seats and a 3000 dollar diamond encrusted headphones to drown out the noise of the boat’s motor. Her privacy needs were catered to by dedicating the entire floor and an entire stretch of beach to her. These are not the only instances; she was recently axed from a gig due to her obnoxious demands!

He ordered for the stage to be rebuilt because he was unhappy about the performance area and replacement of all the dressing room furniture with only white furnishings from the walls, curtains, to chairs to even the flowers. There is more, the wackiest demand that he made was that the carpet in the room was too lumpy and wanted it ironed! Other than that his usual demands include that all the towels backstage for a performance must be from Versace and later he cuts them into half (???). He also has some driver rules like Katy Perry according to which his driver must wear only cotton clothes.

From new toilet seats and using only red toilet paper to apparently ensure it has not been used, she also demands straws made of titanium worth 900 dollars for special alkaline water chilled to an exact 21 degrees. She requires a hand carved ice ball to suck after each performance, to cool her throat. Her crew members are required to wear complete 100% cotton at all times to prevent any allergic reaction she might have to other fibres. During her recent concert performance she refused the luxurious dressing room and moved to the larger rooms used by players and refurbished them to her own taste. And for a person committed to her endorsements she only has Pepsi products in her trailer and an absolute ban on cola products.

Madonna is also famous for her strange demands and necessities. Her entourage is basically a small village, consisting of more than 200 members which consists of about 30 bodyguards, a yoga instructor, an acupuncturist and personal chefs to name a few. She demands for 20 international phone lines in her room, apart from specific white and pink roses with stems specifically cut to 6 inches! And this is not the strangest room requirement. She asks for the room furniture to be completely replaced by her own furniture which is shipped in. the toilets are not spared either, since new ones are installed in the rooms after inspection by her people. Foot spa, a love seat, only Kabbalah water and three Kabbalah candles are her other must haves.

The faucets in the bathroom must be of gold. All venues must have puppies, white doves and all individual handlers need to have toilet paper on them all the time proving her love for animals and in another testimony to this fact she insists on a separate chauffeur for her dog, jack who also must be bathed with only French mineral water. In fact, for a Christmas lighting event in London, she requested for 20 white kittens and 100 doves, and to be showered with butterfly shaped confetti at the end. She reportedly surrounds herself with 11 bodyguards while dining so no one can see her eat. Extremely fussy about her privacy, she has gone to great lengths to ensure she is not disturbed, by buying out all economy seats during a flight, renting all suites next to her suite and reportedly even asking for a gymnasium to be fitted next to her suite. Two days before her performance she refuses to speak to anyone, only communicating via notes!
